Since its founding in 1985, MDS has successfully designed and implemented a broad range of organization development, management and leadership coaching, training, team building and survey research projects for many laboratory animal science organizations. These projects include:

  • Individualized Management Excellence coaching programs for senior managers at Envigo (Harlan), Merck & Co., Inc., Covance, the New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research, and Wyeth
  • an extensive management training program for the VelociGene group, Regeneron, Tarrytown, NY. Participants include Senior Managers, Managers, Associate Managers, Supervisors, and Lead/Senior Techs
  • a teamwork excellence workshop for the Site Leadership Team, Comparative Animal Research, Amgen, Thousand Oaks, CA
  • an extensive organization development project for CBSET, Lexington, Massachusetts, that involved management and leadership training and team building (included all techs)
  • an extensive benchmarking survey research project for the Veterinary Affairs and Animal Welfare Department of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals
  • a strategic planning project for the New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research
  • a customer service survey for the Laboratory Animal Resources department at Merck's West Point, PA site
  • a customer service survey for the Comparative Medicine department at Merck's Rahway, New Jersey site
  • effectiveness surveys for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at Merck's West Point and Rahway sites
  • informational surveys for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at Merck's West Point and Rahway sites
  • an informational survey on occupational health and safety issues in the care and use of laboratory animals at Merck's West Point site
  • a customer service survey for the Comparative Medicine department of Pfizer
  • an effectiveness survey for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Pfizer
  • a customer training needs survey for the Comparative Medicine department of Pfizer
  • a customer service survey for the Laboratory Animal Resources department of Novartis

N.B. Joel A. Goldberg, President of MDS, was the co-leader/leader for a half-day workshop on management coaching at the National AALAS Meeting in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, and 2016. In 2015, he conducted two workshops and was a panel participant. In 2016, he conducted a workshop and lead a panel on leadership. In 2016, Mr. Goldberg was the keynote presenter at ILAM. He is the co-author of two articles published in the Journal of Laboratory Animal Science, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research.
